Our explorations in robotic applications in plaster work began with a trip to the Pittsburgh Plaster Union. They explained that plaster craft is dying as drywall becomes the chosen form of cladding interior walls. Our studies were inspired by analog tools; we opted to replace traditional spring-loaded tools with an arduino-based mechanism which used digital outputs from the robot to determine the angle at which it should be carving the plaster.
